The PHONE-ography Workshop

The PHONE-ography workshop led by professional photographer Juan Islas was great! Our students learned lots of tips and tricks on their camera phones, after learning the basics of photography. Juan brought a couple of early cameras (the Brownie!) to illustrate the history of cameras and how they ALL work. Finding the focus square, the lighting slider, and simply altering the position of our subject in the best light possible were all part of the lesson. And who knew foil and a white plastic trash bag could transform our amateur photography! Thanks to Juan, his assistant Maria, volunteer Natividad, and Carter Bliss with Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church for providing tables and chairs for the outdoor classroom at Spring Valley Park.
